A system of icons are created that represent a variety of careers. The concept that each icon represents must be easily recognizable. The icons must be applied as part of a book cover illustration.
This set of icons represents various sports. Each sport is characterized through the visual device of safety headgear or helmets. The helmets are paired with additional equipment pertaining to each sport, creating a secondary visual element. Seen from a roughly 3/4 angle and defined with consistent line width, the icons form a system.
Each symbol was designed with the aim of creating a reductive two color form, while maintaining a component of realism. An illustration that is simple and easy to read, but accurate enough to be immediately recognizable is achieved.
